2020年東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの開催は、トップアスリート育成のスポーツ振興のみならず、障がい者の健康促進や一般市民の障がい者スポーツに対する意識向上を図ることが期待される。 その支援として首都大学東京がもつ技術やシステムデザインによって障がい者スポーツの意識向上に貢献することが目的である。 本研究では、アクセシブルスポーツを支援するためのシステムデザインの研究としてシステムデザイン学部を中心に健康福祉学部の協力のもと２つのプロジェクトを進める。
1 車椅子楽器：車椅子スポーツに対応できるレクリエーション用の車椅子
車椅子使用者にとって、日常の車椅子使用では運動不足になることによる活動量の低下、車椅子初心者や複合障がいのある方にとって、トレーニングが単調であり意欲の促進にかけることが課題にある。 本研究では、移動の手段や生活の道具として使うだけでなく、遊びや楽しみとして音を奏でることで、日頃の運動不足を解消する車椅子楽器の開発とその活用促進を目指す。
2 ロボッチャ：誰もがボッチャを楽しむことができるデバイスの開発
ボッチャとは、障がい者が障害の程度に応じてクラスに分かれ、ボールを投げて競い合うスポーツです。このプロジェクトでは障がい者も健常者も障害の程度によるクラス分けも取り除き、誰もが同じゲームに参加し、ボッチャの競技を共に楽しむことを可能とする「ロボッチャ」を、ロボット技術の応用により製作する。
Design of Systems to Support Accessible Sports
Novel Creative Contributions from Tokyo Metropolitan University
The technology and system design program at Tokyo Metropolitan University has undertaken a project intended to promote improvement in physical health of the disabled and to increase awareness about sports for the disabled as well. We are currently researching two new systems to support accessible sports.
1 Wheelchr-compatiblemusicalinstruments:
Wheelchairinstruments that can be used for recreational wheelchair sports.
Wheelchairs generally serve as a means for movement and help to facilitate daily tasks for those with physical disabilities. However, wheelchairs can also be used for recreational purposes, i.e., we have developed wheelchair-compatible instruments that play music. The goal of studying this system is to mitigate the daily exercise limitations faced by wheelchair users as well as to promote their use.
2 Roboccia:
Development of a device that allows everyone to enjoy Boccia together
The Boccia competition is a game in which players compete against each other according to the degree of physical abilities of their competitors. There are various ball throwing devices enabled by robotic technologies; one of these devices is selected depending on the physical abilities of the players. All athletes use the same throwing device so that the disabled players and players with normal physical abilities can play together fairly. In this way, Roboccia allows everyone to participate in as well as enjoy the Botcha competition together.
